We’ve had no shortage of leaks regarding the next installment in the Assassin’s Creed series, which at this point seems to have the title of Assassin’s Creed Origins. We know that the game will feature a big open world that will feature Egypt as one of its locations, and will see the return of Black Flag’s naval traversal. However, we’re getting a lot more information today that seems to blow the lid wide open.
First of all, the latest leak claims that all the previous leaks weren’t leaks at all, but were “controlled releases” to get the hype for the game rolling. The game will apparently be the beginning of what will be a new trilogy, which will star the same protagonist for all three installments. The protagonist is described as a modern day character that is male and mixed race. He is already a trained assassin that has a new team that is helping him on his journey.
As for the gameplay, there are definitely some big tweaks that have been revealed that look to shake up the gameplay. There is a new scouting mechanic involving an eagle, whose placeholder name for the time being is Akhom. Long-time fans of the series will be happy to know that towers have been completely removed in the next installment, with the eagle being used for locating side activities and points of interest.
It was also noted that the developers of the game have focused entirely on delivering an engrossing story for the game, with multiplayer being left out entirely in order to focus on the single player. However, there will be microtransactions like in Black Flag and Rogue. It’s possible that multiplayer may return to the series at some point in the future, with the leak claiming that the feature is “still on the cards.”
There are plenty of other tidbits about the game that are sprinkled throughout this new leak, and you can check out the complete list by clicking right here. Assassin’s Creed Origins is expected to launch by the end of this year for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. We’ll likely be getting the full details on the game during E3 2017, which kicks off next month.
