Ark: Survival Evolved has received a new update recently, which brings the game to v257.49. Despite being a relatively minor update, it does address more issues than the update that immediately preceded it did. There are two fixes in particular that are featured here, with one being a server-side update and the other requiring users to update it on their end.
The following are the patch notes for the v257.49 update:
– Server-side: Fixed incorrect collision on TheCenter, and various other misc map issues.
– Fixed a timing related issue with Dino Uploads on Cross ARK Transfers. Requires Server Update.
This definitely won’t be an update that will drastically shake up the experience for players, but it nevertheless smooths out some of the rough edges that have been nagging the game for a while. This follows last week’s minor update, which fixed an issue with turret auto-targeting.
While these minor updates go a long way towards making the game the best experience it can be, it won’t be until the end of this month when it gets its next major update. That will be the v258.0 update, which will include the following changes:
– New Weapon: Harpoon Gun
– New Dino: Hyaenodon
– New Dino: Hesperonis
– New Dino: Megatherium
– New Dino: Megalania
– New Dino: Yutyrannus
– 2 New Hairstyles
– Memory reductions, texture memory & mesh optimization, and performance gains via GPU and CPU utilization & threading improvements.
– Various bug fixes TBA
Keep in mind that the previous patch notes for the v258.0 update are a work in progress, with the developers noting that more notes will be coming prior to the update’s release. The actual release date is also up in the air, but they are currently shooting for a May 30th release.
Ark: Survival Evolved is available for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC in its early access form, with the game’s full release expected to take place later this year.
