Sony’s E3 press conferences are always a big deal. Some of the biggest games get announced on their stage, and often they end up being fantastic. SIE Bend Studio’s Days Gone closed out Sony’s press conference in 2016, teasing this intriguing open-world game. While little information has been revealed about the game, we do know that it’s a third-person shooter set in a post-apocalyptic setting.
Having said that, it’s easy for everyone to instantly draw up The Last of Us comparisons. As a result, the game has quickly become one of the most anticipated new IPs from Sony. However, the big question remains when we’ll actually be able to get our hands on it. That’s still a question that is up in the air, but we’ll try to give an educated guess here.
Days Gone Release Date Rumors
Leaks have suggested that the game will have a late 2017 launch, with the game entering full production at the beginning of 2015. There has been little news on development progress, but things will have to have gone very smoothly for this type of game to be ready and polished by the end of this year. It’s likely that we’ll be getting a lot more information at E3 this year, and whether or not it does meet its late 2017 release window. However, it’s entirely possible that this game ends up becoming a 2018 release. We do know that it will be a PlayStation 4-exclusive, and that it will offer full PlayStation 4 Pro support.
The game is set in the Pacific Northwest, and players control a biker named Deacon St. John. Many have called this game The Walking Dead meets Sons of Anarchy, and that definitely seems like an apt description at this point. It’s set two years after a global pandemic has wiped out nearly all of humanity, transforming millions into what survivors refer to as Freakers. While some may assume they’re regular zombies, they’re described as being more animal and “quickly evolving.”
Days Gone looks impressive so far, with the E3 demo from last year turning a lot of heads. Stay tuned for when more information becomes available, as you’ll be sure to find it on Game Sinners.
