Halo 5 received it most recent update today on 29th June bringing with it a host of new gameplay options. Fans of the series have been blown away with the post launch support 343i have provided so far for the game and this latest update has been no exception.
However 343 have made an-uncharacteristic error with the new update providing the game with one of its few serious glitches. But it seems that 343 can do no wrong and even when they make a mistake they seem to improve the gameplay experience. The latest glitch dubbed the “Weapon Pad Glitch” has given players the ability to create custom weapons, with the appearance and fire rate of one weapon combined with the projectiles of another. Did someone say Supercombine?
So how do you do it? well excitingly its actually very simple, after applying the latest update: Place a weapon pad in forge mode>>go into the objects properties and select a REQ variant of any weapon. (This will be your projectiles)>> Back out of the options and unselect the weapon pad>> Hover over the weapon pad and open the properties menu without selecting it>>Change the weapon to a default weapon (This will be your fire rate, ammo count and scope)>> Back out and your done!
If it is done correctly then when you stand over the weapon its name will appear on the screen as the REQ variant of your first weapon despite clearly having the appearance of your second. Now there is some serious fun that can be had with this glitch and there are two more very exciting things to note. First of all any weapon you create that is saved on a forge map WILL work in custom games! Secondly, Senior mission designer for 343i, Tom French has stated that the glitch will be left in the game “Because it’s awesome” and “it’s just too fun”. This statement may be retracted at a later date, we never know but it appears that for now at least the glitch is here to stay.
Now go play Halo 5 and let us know what insane weapon combinations you can create.
