Let’s talk about Piglet. In case you haven’t heard, Piglet got benched. Well, sort of. Kind of. Not really. But yes actually he did.
Back in Week 3 of the 2016 Summer LCS, Locodoco made this announcement:
Gonna start @FabbbyyyLoL this week. His been itching for LCS time. @LiquidPiglett isnt BENCHED, coming to LCS with us for support and sub!
— loco (@Locodoco) June 17, 2016
To which Piglet responded with:
What cute banter! Except it wasn’t banter, and it wasn’t cute, and all it did was make people uncomfortable. Piglet has since deleted the tweet, which only makes even more obvious that no, Piglet, you’re not cute, this is what’s happening, take it down.
Piglet used to be one of the best ADC’s in the world. People would get into fights about who was better between Sneaky, WildTurtle, and Piglet. His stats were insane. He was on SKT, arguably the best team in the world, that won Worlds, Worlds I tell you, back in 2014. That’s something NA Teams can only dream of (read: TSM, CLG: though TSM might have a chance this year). The guy was a legend. But after signing over to Team Liquid, a brand new team that started in the Spring of 2015, it’s been a tough road.
As much as Locodoco says that Piglet isn’t getting benched, Piglet hasn’t been on the Rift since that tweet. No one has been really complaining though, seeing that before Piglet was “benched” Liquid was 1-3, but as soon as Fabbbyyy started they’ve only lost one game, and it was to second place powerhouse Immortals. With Piglet being such a huge star and LCS icon, his benching has gotten a lot of attention. Piglet was the star player that made people even know who Team Liquid was. If Fabbbyyy keeps killing it, he could be the new kid that everyone’s talking about- oh wait, he already is.
The real match to see is this weekend, where Liquid goes up against Immortals for the second time: their only loss since Fabbbyyy. Liquid is currently tied for third right now along with Cloud 9 and Envy. If they can beat Immortals, it might just be the final nail in Piglet’s coffin.
