German studio nolife labs has just launched a kickstarter campaign for the final version of a tower defence game for eSports fans. Coregrounds brings together the aspects of tower defence and strategic diversity of MOBA gameplay.
The final version of Coregrounds is expected to arrive in January 2017 and the team decided to go for crowdfunding in order to finalise their project and improve graphics. “This Kickstarter campaign will help us redesign the game and create new graphics to make Coregrounds’ visuals as appealing as its gameplay,” Mario Kaiser, the team leader said in a press release. The game has been available in open beta for the past year and during this phase, nolife labs were improving the gameplay and adding content. The team wants to make sure that Coregrounds is well balanced and also viable in the eSports scene.
Nolife labs is a small studio based in Berlin, they are an international team and apart from Germany’s capital they bring together talents from London, Vancouver and Neede. What makes Coregrounds special among other tower defence games and MOBAs is “the tactical diversity and replayability; but it doesn’t have the social pressure and stress of a game where you have to have five friends online or play with a community that’s saltier than the dead sea, “ nolife labs say on kickstarter. After the official launch, the team aims to hold regular tournaments and perhaps have its own professional league. Check out the kickstarter campaign, this title will bring something new to the eSports scene!
